The two top teams in the five-team tournament
qualify for the second round of the 2006 World
Championships, which will be played in June, and Chinese
Taipei and Indonesia both sit on top with three wins
from three matches with Sunday’s match between the two
unbeaten sides purely to determine the order of finish.
"We always give our best in every match,” Chinese Taipei
coach Chang Mu San said. “We are happy that we advanced
in the second round."
It was an unbelievable performance from Chinese Taipei
as they completed the victory in only 63 minutes, with
captain Hsien Chen Lin inparticular giving the Macau
side a lesson in Volleyball. Meanwhile Indonesia, with
Muhammad Zainudin scoring 16 points, was equally
impressive with their straight sets win over the
Philippines as they fought to overcome the home crowd
support before sealing the win.
The other match on the final day between the Philippines
and Tonga will determine whether the home side can
finish above Macau on the rankings
Chinese Taipei and Indonesia join England and Sudan as
men’s teams to have qualified for the second round.
