2006 Men's World Championships - Estonia
Bosnia & Herzegovina’s dream comes true (FIVB)
04/29/2005
Tallinn,
Estonia, April 29, 2005 – Bosnia & Herzegovina will be
celebrating on Friday as the start of the 2006 Men’s
World Championship first round tournament (Europe Pool
D) confirms the fact that both their men’s and women’s
team will have participated in the 2006 World
Championship, less than three weeks since a page in the
history of Balkan Volleyball was turned.
The date was April 9 when the Volleyball clubs of Bosnia
& Herzegovina, the Republic of Srpska and the District
of Brcko unanimously approved the new Constitution
reviving the new Volleyball Federation of Bosnia &
Herzegovina.
The FIVB's tireless efforts bore fruit in spectacular
fashion since 81 clubs took part in the Federation's
Constituent General Assembly, out of the 85 clubs active
in Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Republic of Srpska and the
District of Brcko - and all voted in favour of the new
Constitution.
Now the Bosnia & Herzegovina women’s and men’s teams
have the honour of participating in the 2006 World
Championship. The women’s team started playing in a CEV
first round tournament in France on Wednesday and now
the men’s team will start in a CEV first round
tournament in Estonia on Friday.
The Bosnia & Herzegovina men’s team will be competing
with the hosts, Israel, and Albania playing for only one
ticket through to the second round, which is awarded
only to the winner.
Estonia and Albania start proceedings at 17.30 (local
time) followed by Bosnia & Herzegovina taking on Israel
at 20.00. The final day is Sunday.
