05/24/2005
Port
of Spain, Trinidad May 24, 2005 - Trinidad and Tobago's
head coach Gideon Dickson sounded very confident about
the chances of his side advancing to the second round of
the 2006 Men's World Championship in the Norceca region
ahead of the 2006 World Championship first round
tournament - Norceca Group B at the St Augustine Campus
of the University of the West Indies, which starts on
Wednesday.
Only the winner of the five-team tournament will advance
to the second round and Dickson is expecting nothing
else other than victory for his side as he and the four
other coaches were introduced to the media during a
press conference on the eve of the event. Pic: The five coaches during the press conference (from

Louisy, Albert Loblack, Glen Quinlan
Here is what the coaches said:
Gideon Dickson (T & T): "On paper we are expected to
finish first and I have no doubt that we are going to
win. My main concern is to improve with every match. All
the games start at zero and we are going to do our best.
St. Lucia is expected to be our main contender and we
are glad they are here."
Andrew Culpepper (Anguilla): "For us this is going to be
a learning experience. It has been four years since we
played. I don't expect anything spectacular. We are
ready to do our best. It is going to be a great
experience."
Brian Louisy (St. Lucia): "St. Lucia comes with
expectations to make the next round. We are going to be
competitive. We see all the teams as good challengers
and I hope we are going to be in the next round."
Albert Loblack (Dominica): "We are looking forward to
this opportunity. I really think we have a lot of
talent. My goal is to play good Volleyball and hope for
the best."
Glen Quinlan (St. Kitts): "We believe the games are
played on the court and because of that also decided on
the court. There has been surprises in the past and
surprises can happen."
The opening days play sees Santa Lucia play Dominicana
at 16:00 (local time) followed by Trinidad and Tobago
taking on Anguilla at 20:00. St Kitts has the bye.
