Senate speaker congratulates Kazakhstan Volleyball team on victory (FIVB)

Astana, Kazakhstan, June 20, 2005 – The national men’s
Volleyball team of Kazakhstan have been congratulated by
the chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of
Kazakhstan, Volleyball federation head Nurtai Abykayev
after they reached the 2006 World Championships Final
Round last Sunday.
Our team succeeded owing to diligent and strenuous work
of the coaches, players and sponsorship. I congratulate
all amateurs, players and trainers’ staff of the
national team of Kazakhstan on the victory and wish
success, says the message.
Kazakhstan, ranked 31st in the world, pulled off a
sensational upset by beating Korea, who have a world
ranking of 10, 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 33-31) on the
final day to claim the one final round ticket on offer
at the 2006 Men’s World Championship second round
tournament – Asia Pool D. Korea will now head into a
three-way playoff with the second-placed teams from the
two other Asian second round tournaments in India in
July.
