2006 World Championships
China and India to vie for ticket to Final Round (FIVB)
06/25/2005
Chennai, India, June 25, 2005 – Tournament favourites China and India are to meet in the final match of the third and final Asian second round tournament - Asia Pool E of 2006 Men’s World Championships after beating their second opponents here on Saturday. China and India both have two wins from as many matches.

China, ranked 15th in the world, raced to their second victory, outplaying world number 40 Indonesia 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-17). Indonesia put up a good show against India in their first match on Friday as its attack was quick and sharp but in facing the taller and clever Chinese players, Indonesia was no match. China’s spikers - especially Shen Qiong and Sui Shensheng - jump served strongly, disturbing Indonesia's first pass and that affected the Indonesian game. Tang Miao also served superbly.

Meanwhile, India (26th in the world) also collected their second victory with a 3-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-18) win over world number 37 Thailand.

Now India and China are set up for a title clash on Sunday to decide the winner of the Final Round ticket in Japan.
