Speaking at Kasarani, coach Lung’aho, who led Kenya
Pipeline to a successful title defence of the
continental clubs title, said; "Selecting the
provisional squad of 18 players was not an easy task
since the Africa Cup of Clubs Champions which was held
at Kasarani in April unearthed some talented players who
proved that they deserve to be in the national team.
“If picking the provisional 18 was a difficult task,
come July 17 it will even be more difficult to select
the final squad of 12 and it will be up to every player
in the team to prove her worth since as coach I will
only go for a winning team.
"We will do our best to continue the success of Kenyan
women’s volleyball after we qualified for the Olympic
Games in 2000 and 2004 as well as to the 2002World
Championship," concluded Paul Bitok, the team trainer.
The tournament will be played at a rate of two matches
per day over five days with many local and international
journalists expected to cover the event.
Journalists wishing to attend are advised to collect
accreditation forms from the Kenya Volleyball Federation
Press Officer at the federation’s secretariat at Nyayo
National Stadium since only accredited journalists will
be given bibs to allow them have access to the Press
Area and Press Centre for interviews after every match.
