Venezuela third South American team in final round (FIVB)

Caracas, Venezuela, July 24, 2005 – World number 10 Venezuela became the third and final South American side to book a spot in the 2006 Men’s World Championship final round after winning the South American first round tournament – Pool B in Caracas on Sunday.

Venezuela beat Ecuador 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16) on the final day to record their third win from as many matches to win the tournament and join defending champions Brazil and Argentina in the finals in Japan in November 2006.

Sunday's other match saw Colombia beat Peru 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-11, 25-16) to finish two wins and one defeat.

Peru finished third with one win and a defeat followed by Ecuador who failed to win a match.
