Korea and Kazakhstan through to finals (FIVB)

Ratchaburi, Thailand, August 5, 2005 - Unbeaten Korea and Kazakhstan finished first and second respectively at the 2006 Women's World Volleyball Championship Asian Group B first round tournament at the Ratchaburi Gymnasium on Friday to claim the two tickets on offer to the final round.

Favourites South Korea beat the Philippines on Friday in straight sets as expected, winning 3-0 (25-14 25-17 25-13) while Kazakhstan had the bye yet both sides still finished in the top two.

South Korea finished unbeaten to top the five-team standings, while Kazakhstan had seven points from three wins against one loss to finish second. Thailand, who had two wins against two losses to the Koreans and the Kazaks, came in third place, with the Philippines and winless Tonga in fourth and fifth place respectively.

in Friday's other match Thailand, fielding all substituted players, beat Tonga in a totally one-sided battle 3-0 (25-5, 25-8, 25-14) in just over 50 minutes.
