Tokyo, March 7, 2006: The host broadcaster of the 2006 FIVB Volleyball World Championships outlined plans for a multi-functional media centre at a meeting on Tuesday.
The centre will be located in the spacious lobby of the head office of Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS), in downtown Akasaka, and will serve broadcast and print media, as well as the FIVB's all-important VIS operation.
It will be in addition to the media centres at each of the 12 venues in the 10 host cities, and will enable media visitors to follow the action from all four gymnasiums during the first round of play through a bank of monitors.
There will also be a VIS centre, an editing centre, a booking office for TBS to distribute the broadcasting rights, and a website upload area for the official home pages of TBS and the World Championships organising committee. The TBS coffee shop on the ground floor will become a media lounge.
