Lausanne, April 6, 2006 : Following the deadline of March 30 for the submission of candidatures for the FIVB Board of Administration and the FIVB Commissions, the FIVB is pleased to announce a total of 184 candidatures for the various positions.
The FIVB has received a total of 184 candidatures from among the members of its 218 affiliated National Federations. Of these, 45 are for the FIVB Board of Administration, with the remaining 139 candidates proposed for the 10 different FIVB Commissions.
Commenting on the strong interest from National Federations, FIVB President Ruben Acosta H. said: "We are proud to receive so many candidatures from all over the world, which shows that Volleyball is a genuinely universal sport.
"We are also pleased to see so much interest from members of our National Federations who are motivated to get involved and continue the excellent development of our sport by taking part in the decision-making process.”
The FIVB Board of Administration, which will meet in Lausanne from May 19-21, will evaluate the eligibility of the candidatures for the relevant positions before presenting its proposals to the 30th FIVB World Congress, to be held in Tokyo from October 23-25.
