Tokyo, July 5, 2006 -- The Costa Rica women's team is hoping a Japanese club can host them for their final preparations for the World Championships.
They are hoping to hold a camp in Japan for between seven and 10 days, according to the president of the Costa Rica Volleyball Federation, William Corrales.
"As this is the first time that our women will take part in this prestigious event, we are trying to do our best with limited finances," he said, in a letter to the World Championships organising committee in Tokyo.
"Dr Lorne Sawula, FIVB coach, is assisting us in preparing for the World Championship and feels that we must arrive earlier since we need more training."
Corrales said his federation would deeply appreciate any help anyone could give him -- and said that Costa Rica would be happy to host a visiting team from Japan for friendly matches.
Costa Rica is ranked 33rd in the FIVB women's world rankings, and will play Japan, Korea, Poland, Kenya and Chinese Taipei in Pool A in Tokyo, from October 31 to November 5.
